Overview
Located near Kemmanagundi in the Bababudangiri hills, Hebbe Falls is one of Karnataka’s most scenic and adventurous waterfalls. Cascading down in two stages (called Dodda Hebbe and Chikka Hebbe) from a height of about 168 metres, the falls drop into a forest-fringed valley that feels like it’s been pulled from a dream.
The combination of lush greenery, cool climate, and the excitement of getting there makes Hebbe a favourite among nature lovers and photographers.
Why Visit
- One of the most beautiful waterfalls in the Chikmagalur region
- Located deep inside a forest, surrounded by coffee estates and jungle trails
- Offers a refreshing pool at the base — great for a dip (when conditions are safe)
The journey to Hebbe is as memorable as the destination — filled with winding roads, misty paths, and jeep rides through coffee plantations.
How to Reach
Hebbe Falls is about 10 km from Kemmanagundi. You can either trek through forest trails (approx. 7 km one way) or take a forest department jeep part of the way and walk the final stretch. Permission and tickets are available at the entry point in Kemmanagundi.
Proper footwear is essential, as the path includes streams and slippery rocks.
Best Time to Visit
Visit between October and February for the best combination of flow and accessibility. Monsoon adds drama to the falls but can make trails difficult and often unsafe for trekking.
