Paddle Across the Silent Backwaters of the Sharavathi River
Set along the tranquil backwaters of the Sharavathi River, Honnemaradu is a hidden gem for water-based adventure in the Western Ghats. At the heart of this peaceful destination lies the Honnemaradu Adventure Camp, where kayaking is more than a sport. It’s a way to explore untouched nature in total calm.
Why Kayaking Here Feels Special
Unlike fast rivers or coastal waters, kayaking in Honnemaradu offers a slow, meditative journey across still water. The wide expanse of the Linganamakki reservoir creates the perfect conditions for recreational kayaking, even for those with no prior experience.
You can paddle for short stretches near the camp or venture farther into hidden corners of the reservoir, surrounded by forests, hills, and open skies. Early morning and sunset sessions are particularly beautiful, as mist lifts from the water or golden light reflects across its surface.
This location is best for first-timers, students, nature enthusiasts, or those looking to enjoy a gentle form of adventure.
Where to experience the kayaking
Kayaking is conducted from the main Honnemaradu Adventure Camp, located about 25 km from Sagara in the Shivamogga district. Operated in coordination with the Forest Department and Youth Adventure groups, activities are fully supervised with safety gear provided.
Group and solo kayak options are available, typically booked as part of full or half-day adventure programs.
What Else to Do in Honnemaradu
