Fly Over the Arabian Sea with Sand Beneath and Sky Above
If you’ve ever wanted to fly over the ocean, Malpe Beach near Udupi offers exactly that. With its golden shoreline, clear waters, and wide open skies, Malpe is one of Karnataka’s most popular spots for parasailing — a short, exciting flight over the sea that gives you a bird’s-eye view of the coast.
What to Expect from the Ride
In tethered parasailing, you’re securely harnessed to a parachute that’s connected to a motorboat. As the boat speeds across the water, the parachute lifts you into the air — typically 150 to 300 feet high — offering stunning views of St. Mary’s Island, palm-lined beaches, and the endless Arabian Sea.
The experience lasts around 5 to 7 minutes, and it’s perfect for beginners and families. You can choose between staying dry or doing a “dip” parasail, where the boat briefly lowers you into the sea before lifting you again.
All gear and instructions are provided by trained professionals, and the activity is operated under safety guidelines.
Where the Parasailing Happens
Activities are conducted just off the main Malpe Beach, with boats departing directly from the shore. Parasailing is offered by multiple certified adventure operators, mostly during October to May, when the sea is calm and wind conditions are stable.
Sessions typically run from early morning until sunset, and it’s best to book in advance during weekends or holidays.
