Overview
Located along National Highway 4 near Shiggaon in Haveri District, the Utsav Rock Garden is a one-of-a-kind open-air museum where art meets everyday life. Spread across several acres, it showcases thousands of life-size sculptures that bring alive the traditions, occupations, and culture of Karnataka’s rural heartland.
What Makes It Special
Utsav Rock Garden is not just an art space — it’s an experiential journey through Karnataka’s heritage. The garden features:
- Over 8,000 statues, carefully crafted to depict farmers, artisans, musicians, dancers, and everyday village scenes
- Traditional crafts and folk art displays, offering a glimpse into Karnataka’s diverse cultural practices
- A mix of stone, cement, and terracotta sculptures, designed to feel lifelike and relatable
- Themed zones like farming life, village fairs, folk dances, and heritage homes, allowing visitors to walk through recreated settings
This project was the vision of sculptor Dr. T. B. Solabakkanavar, who wanted to preserve and celebrate the vanishing rural traditions of the state through art.
